Library Card for New Butler Library Patrons

If you do not have a library card with Butler Public Library, you can request one via the MAIN consortium catalog: continue reading for instructions on getting a card.

Go to the Butler Library site (www.butlerlibrary.org) and click the ‘Catalog” tab (second from the left); you will then be taken to the MAIN consortium catalog.

Once in the catalog, click the “My Account” drop down icon; click “Log In/Register” and follow the prompts from there.

Once you get to the page asking for your name, address, etc., please provide as much information as possible (note: there may be a delay in getting your Library card if important information is missing).

Normally you would have to come into the Library with an ID that shows that you live, go to school, or work in Butler. However, during the coronavirus, we are not requiring that you go to the Library. Instead, we will send you an email with your barcode number and PIN (for now, we will use the last four digits of the first phone number provide). This will allow you to begin to use the many online resources available from the Butler Public Library and the MAIN Consortium.

We need to make sure that you are a resident of Butler. So, after completing the online registration form, please send a scan or photo of any document which shows that you live, work, or go to school in Butler to luis.rodriguez@butlerlibrary.org.

Acceptable forms of documentation are driver’s licenses, State ID card, utility bill, bank statement, current rent bill or lease agreement, and a tax bill or receipt.  Please contact the Library Director via email if you do not have any of these forms of ID.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CROSS OUT OR COVER ALL PERSONAL INFORMATION ON AN ID OTHER THAN YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS.

When the Library re-opens, you have two weeks to come in to receive your “real” Library car.  After two weeks, we will disable the card we gave you while we were closed.
