Request to all parents/guardians:  Please call the library at least 24 hours in advance if possible if your child/children will not be attending a program after you have signed them up.  When we reach a certain number of participants, we have to close the program to other children due to supplies and limited space.  We are still getting no shows for programs.

Wooden Tray for Treasured Valuables
When: Monday, March 23, 2026
Time: 5:00 – 6:00pm
For ages 4 – 10 yrs.

Paint a wooden tray, use model magic and marble glass pebbles to create a design in the bottom of the 6 x 6 tray.

Candy Hunt
When:  Saturday, March 28, 2026
Time:  Right at:  10:30am for 0-4 yrs.
Time:  Right at:  10:45am for 5 – 8 yrs.
No registration needed.

Candy will be hidden around the Library for the children to find.  Meet at the door of the Library and wait for Ms. Arlene to send the little ones off first to find the candy.  At 10:45am the older children will be able to begin the hunt.   All candy and a small bag will be provided by the Library.  No registration needed. 

 

Story TimeStory Time

Story time offers 30-minute sessions with a story and other fun activities. Parents must remain in the Library. This free program is limited to 12 children. Registration is required on Google Forms. Toddler time offers a 30-minute session with a story and a small craft for children and caretakers. This free program is limited to 8 children and 8 caretakers.  The Butler Library will Celebrate 250 years of America’s Independence with the following events:

Reading Challenge For Adults, Teens, and Children
When:  May 1, 2026 – July 30, 2026
Register on Google Forms so we know how many patrons are participating.  (Coming Soon)
Pick up a Reading Challenge Trail Chart at the Library.
Count the time reading any book on America’s History.  The Butler Library will have a display table of books for you to choose from, or you may borrow any book from the county library that interests you about our nation’s history.  All entries must be returned by July 30, 2026.  Your completed Reading Challenge Chart will automatically enter you in the raffle to win a prize related to America’s 250th Anniversary.  The prizes will be on display in the Library.

250 Years Coloring Page
When:  June 1, 2026 – July 30, 2026.
For Children and Young Adults
No registration needed.
Pick up a 250 years coloring page at the circulation desk.  Color the page and hand it to an assistant at the circulation desk so we can display it in the library as a decoration for 250 years of independence celebrations for America.

 

Gumball Count Challenge
When:  June 1, 2026 – July 30, 2026.
All ages may participate.
No registration needed.

The gumball jar and challenge form will be at the Circulation Desk. Pick up your challenge form, count the number of red, white, and blue gumballs and make your best guess.  A prize will be awarded to the person who is closest to the actual number of red, white, and blue gumballs without going over. If there are multiple correct answers, a drawing will be held.

 

 

Summer Reading Volunteers’ Meeting When:  Monday, June 2, 2025 Time: 6:00pm Please be ready to fill out the volunteer form and schedule. We offer hours ALL year long.  One of the best times to volunteer is during our Summer Reading Program held from June – August.  If you are not able to make the meeting on this day, please visit the Library and speak to Ms. Lisa or Ms. Arlene.  Summer Reading Volunteers’ Meeting

Read a Story to Cory

For Beginner Readers
Every Monday from 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Come read to Cory, a Shih Tzu dog, with Ms. Kim Boon at the Library. Cory, a licensed therapy dog and his owner can’t wait for you to come and read a story to him.  Sign up for a 15 minute session by calling the Butler Library at: 973-838-3262. This program is free and meets Monday nights.
