Performance MAYOOPEN TO ALL AGES.  Are you interested and able to attend:  THE CAT IN THE HAT performance at the MAYO Performing Arts Center in Morristown? Then we have a puzzle for you.  Come to the library and take a look at the Dr. Seuss display table in the main section of the library.  Unscramble the letters and spell the title of one of Dr. Seuss’s favorite titles.  Then, fill out a raffle form if you know you can attend the performance with the name of the book to be entered for a chance to win 2 free tickets to the performance.

Read a Story to Cory
For Beginner Readers
Every Monday from 6:15 pm – 7:15 pm
Ms. Kim Boon and her Shih Tzu Dog, Cory will help your child in learning how to read or to practice reading aloud. Cory is the best listener. Sign up for a 15 minute session by calling the Butler Library at: 973-838-3262. This program is free. Come join us at the Butler Library with Cory and Ms. Kim and practice reading aloud when you can read a story to Cory.

Solare Eclipse Program

A near Total Solar Eclipse is coming to the northeast and we are prepared to give out Solar Eclipse Glasses to residents with proof of residency who sign up in advance on Google Forms.  Limit two solar glasses per Butler family for the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024.  Patrons must be 18 and over. 

When:   Complete the Google Form between February 1 – March 16.  
Pick up:  Come to the Library to pick up the glasses:  From

Paint With Me

S.T.E.A.M.  Ceramic Surprise
When: Monday, February 12
Register on Google Forms or visit the Library to sign up.  
Time: 4:00 – 4:45pm
Ages: 3 – 10 yrs.
Choose from a variety of ceramic pieces to paint. All supplies are provided by the library. Children under 5, will need to have a parent paint with them. Each child needs to be registered separately on Google Forms so we have an accurate count of attendees. Speed stackersMaker’s Day
S.T.E.M.  Introduction to Speed Cup Stacking

“Speed Cup Stacking is a Sport that originated in the early 1980’s in southern California and received national attention in 1990.” Register on GOOGLE Forms if you are interested in this one day cup stacking class to learn Step 1: Three stack and 6 stack. (3-3-3)  If there is an interest in this program, other classes will be scheduled.  This class is limited to 10 children who will share  a set of cups. Grinch Pillow ProgramMaker’s Day

Spring Candy Hunt in the Library
Register on Google Forms for this event  

When: Saturday, March 23
Time: 11:00am
Ages: Infant  – 8 years
Bring your walking shoes and come to the Library and participate in a candy hunt.  Walk around the library and see if you can locate some hidden candy to bring home. S.T.E.M. TINKERCAD Club
When:  March 18 & 25
Time: 4:00 – 5:00 PM
Ages:  8 – 10

Learn Tinkercad and create a 3D project with Ms. Arlene. Tinkercad is a 3D modeling program. Participants should try to attend both meetings because each class builds on the previous class. Each child needs to be registered separately on Google Forms so we have an accurate count of attendees. Solare Eclipse ProgramGet Ready for the Solar Eclipse  Art Project
When: Monday, April 1

Time: 4:00 – 4:45pm
Ages: 5 – 11 yrs.
On April 8, 2024 the Sun, Moon, and the Earth will align in almost a total solar eclipse
casting a shadow in our area.  In order to celebrate this event, join Ms. Arlene and create a painting of an eclipse as a souvenir to remember this day.  All painting supplies for this project is provided by the library.  Each child needs to be registered separately on Google Forms so we have an accurate count of attendees. Candy HuntApril Scavenger Hunt
When:  April 1 – April 30
No registration necessary
Visit the Library anytime between April 1 – April 30 to complete the scavenger hunt.  Pick up your form and directions for the scavenger hunt at the Circulation Desk and begin the hunt.  When you have completed the form which includes your name and phone number, bring it back to the Circulation Desk to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $10.00 gift card from TARGET.  Have fun everyone.  We know you love our scavenger hunts.

Learning to ride a bike is a rite of passage that provides a sense of accomplishment in learning a new, profound skill! This 1 ½ hour class teaches the safe and effective “balance first” method. Our certified Bike Right® instructors will remove the bike’s pedals and teach balance and control above all else. S.T.E.A.M.  Paint Your Own Stepping Stone
