Request to all parents/guardians:  Please call the library at least 24 hours in advance if possible if your child/children will not be attending a program after you have signed them up.  When we reach a certain number of participants, we have to close the program to other children due to supplies and limited space.  We are still getting no shows for programs.

Parents and students are invited to an information session at the Butler Library to learn about the Morris County Vocational School District’s full-time Academies.The Academies offer students a unique high school experience combining comprehensive academics with career and technical education (CTE).

An 8th grade student may apply to an academy in fields like business, education, environmental science, healthcare, engineering, and more. Attend to learn about all program offerings, admissions requirements, and how MCVSD helps students get a head start on college and future careers. Attending is a great opportunity to see if an academy is the right fit for your student’s goals. If you need help registering, please call the library at 973-838-3262.

 

 

Story Time
September 15 – December 8, 2026
Tuesdays: 10:30 am
For ages 3 – 5 yrs.
Sign up on Google Forms  
Story time offers 30-minute sessions with a story and other fun activities. Parents must remain in the Library. This free program is limited to 12 children. Registration is required on Google Forms. Toddler Time 
Thursdays: 10:30am
September 17 – December 10, 2026
For ages 2 – 3 yrs.

Toddler time offers a 30-minute session with a story and a small craft for children and caretakers. This free program is limited to 8 children and 8 caretakers. Registration is required on Google Forms. If you are no longer able to attend after you sign up for this program, please call the library and let us know. LEGO Race Car  
When:  Monday, September 28
Time: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Ages:  6 – 11 years
Register on Google Forms 
Assemble a 29 piece LEGO Formula 1 race car and have fun racing it down our new flexible track. Each registrant may take home their assembled race car.  Register on google forms for this free program. If you need help registering on Google Forms, please call the library at 973-838-3262. Fire Safety Scavenger Hunt in the Library
When:  October 1 – October 24, 2026
Ages:  3 yrs – 10 yrs.
Pick up your scavenger hunt form at the Circulation Desk. Walk around the library and find the fire safety fire hydrant. Match the number on the fire hydrant picture to its match on your form. When you have completed the scavenger hunt, hand your form to an assistant at the circulation desk. Every child who participates receives a small prize. 

 

Mini Fairy or Animal Garden
When:  Monday, October 5, 2026
Time:  5:00pm – 5:45pm
Ages: 5 – 12 years
Register on Google Forms or visit the Library to register.
Choose from a variety of bridges, animals, a house or other small figurines to create a miniature garden  All supplies for this project will be provided by the Library. Each child needs to be registered separately on Google Forms so we have an accurate count of attendees.  If you are no longer able to attend after you sign up for this program, please call the library and let us know.
